What does it feel like?

Although each experience is individualized,  many people describe it as a feeling that comes from “within,” and that it feels like a connection to something greater than yourself that is  filled with love and light, and a sense of knowing. Most everyone feels a very deep sense of relaxation, and some experience dreams and mystical experiences.  You might have sensations during or after the treatment such as heat, cold, tingling, buzzing, relaxation, sleepiness, dreaming or other. Sometimes the symptoms worsen after the treatment for a short period of time, after which you will feel wonderful. I Some people don’t feel anything real specific, but it does not mean that Reiki is not working on a deeper level.  “Never is Nothing Happening.”

Do I need to believe that it will work for it to work?

Reiki is effective regardless of belief; we only ask that you suspend disbelief if possible.

Is Reiki safe?

It is beleived that Reiki energy works only for the Highest Good of each person and can NOT cause harm. It is safe for anyone and for any situation including pregnant women and children. It works from its own intelligence and always knows what a person needs and will adjust itself to create the effect that is beneficial for them.

Is Reiki a religion?

No. It is not a religion. It is very spiritual in nature, but there is no belief required in order to learn and use it. The beauty of reiki is that it will work regardless of whether you believe in it or not. Additionally, practitioners are not asked to change any religious beliefs and are always free to practice and explore beliefs of their choosing.

Does Reiki cure people?

Yes, sometimes, but no promises can be made about the outcome of the use of Reiki (or any other healing system). Universal energy does what is in the best interest or highest good for that person. Healing is a different experience and has different effects on every individual. A big step towards healing is to actually realize your need for healing.

Does Reiki take the place of medical or professional treatment?

No. Reiki should never be seen as a substitute for medical care. Reiki is a complementary therapy that can help healing processes and in many cases improve both physical and mental health.  It works in conjunction with, and supports and aids other healing modalities as well as alternative or traditional.

What is lineage?

The techniques of Reiki are transferred from teacher to student.  If one has been attuned to Reiki (this occurs during class-time), then they will be in a sequence of teachers leading back to the founder of the system of Reiki one is practicing. In the case of Usui Reiki, the lineage would lead back to Dr. Usui. Leah traces her lineage back five teachers to founder Dr Mikao Usui.

What is attunement?

The ability to channel Reiki is transferred to the student by the Reiki Master during the attunement process. This process includes the use of sacred symbols that act as a door for the Reiki to flow or be channeled through to the student. This opens the crown, heart, throat and palm chakras and creates a special link between the receiver and the Reiki Source, the Universal Source of All That Is. After being attuned, the student is imprinted with the energies the symbols represent and can activate Reiki to give to themselves or others.

The Reiki Attunement enhances meditation and self-healing techniques. While Reiki is not a substitute for professional care, medical or psychological, when used in conjuction with these treatments, it can have a profound impact on both patient and caregiver in the form of reduced stress, increased relaxation, and an overall improvement in one’s quality of life.
